Troubleshooting Guide
This section provides information on some of the most commonly encountered problems and provides possible causes and solutions.

Problem

Possible Cause

Possible Solution

The unit does not cool the room.

Intake vents are clogged

Check the front and rear air intake vents for any possible obstruction.

Inadequate Door seal

Use good-quality weather-stripping and seals around the cellar door to prevent cool air leakage.

Improperly Mounted unit

The unit must be mounted high in the room in order to capture the warm air and cool it.

Unit has inadequate ventilation

Make sure that the WhisperKOOL vents into a space where heat cannot build up.

Thermostat is faulty

Test the thermostat to ensure it is functioning properly.

Water is leaking out from the front fan vents.

Condensation drain is clogged (older models)

Water leaking from the front vents is caused by excessive build-up of dust from air circulating inside the cellar.

Water is leaking from the rear.

Condensate evaporator is not properly set for local climate

The correct setting for the Condensate Evaporator switch depends on your local climate and humidity.

Unit is icing up.

Thermostat is faulty

Test the thermostat to ensure it is functioning properly.

Unit is running continually

If the unit works non stop for an extended period of time, the condensation on the front coils will begin to ice up and must be de-frosted in order to begin functioning normally.

Unit is low on Freon

If the unit freezes up continuously over a short period of time, it may require maintenance by our service department.

Unit has inadequate airflow

Proper airflow is critical to the performance of the WhisperKool unit

Unit is not running or makes intermittent clicking noises.

Problem with local electrical circuit

Make sure you have the Whisperkool on a dedicated electrical line that is controlled by a circuit breaker with sufficient capacity, usually at least 20 amps.
