If the WhisperKool unit is not cooling the room, it might be due
to a faulty thermostat. Use the following "Bypass
Test" procedure to evaluate the thermostat.
Bypass Test
The bypass test is designed to bypass the operation of the thermostat so we can determine whether the thermostat is faulty or if repairs are needed to the cooling unit. Detailed instructions for this test can be found in Frequently Asked Questions.

Unplug the WhisperKool unit |

The PDT/PDT Junior Thermostat thermostat is attached to the front of the WhisperKool
unit with two screws, one at each end of the PDT/PDT Junior Thermostat. Remove
the screws and detach the PDT/PDT Junior Thermostat. |

Unplug the PDT/PDT Junior Thermostat from the main unit, and plug in the bypass
plug that came with the unit. The bypass plug lets you run the
WhisperKool without having the PDT/PDT Junior Thermostat installed. |

Plug the WhisperKool unit back in. The unit will begin running
and cooling immediately. Let the unit run for 24 hours. |

After 24 hours, use an accurate thermometer (preferably a
high-quality digital thermometer) to measure the temperature
of air coming out of the WhisperKool unit's front fans. If it
is cooling the room, then the problem may lie with the PDT/PDT Junior Thermostat
thermostat. |
If your unit continues to ice during the Bypass Test, your best option is to purchase a replacement .
You may also consider repairing your unit in your cellar or sending it to the factory for repair.
Often, it is more cost efficient to purchase a refurbished unit .
